Make The Most of Your In-Office Visit with Us!

We are so appreciative and grateful that you have chosen us to care for you! Your time is valuable, and in order for us to provide you with an optimal visit, we’ve put together this list of suggestions for how to prepare for and maximize your time in our office.

  1. Arrive 15 minutes BEFORE your appointment time to fill out paperwork/ipad kiosk or fill these out ahead of time at our website. We do our best to run on time, and we can usually stay on time if our patients are ready to be seen and their paperwork is complete by their appointment time. This is important to us, but we also need to apologize in advance — even if every one of our patients shows up on time, we sometimes encounter patient concerns that require additional attention. We care deeply for our patients and will devote the time required to appropriately treat you, so please be gracious if we run late. We know you’d want the same level of care if the time-consuming concern was yours!

  2. Please bring a list of ALL of your medications including over-the-counter vitamins and supplements, and a list of ALLERGIES to any medications. It is a good idea to always keep these with you in your wallet in case of emergency or for any doctor appointments.

  3. If you have a specific spot that you are concerned about that is on your back or scalp or somewhere where you can’t easily reach or see, please have someone circle it before your appointment so you can be sure your provider evaluates the specific spot you were concerned about. Scalp lesions can be hard to find, so please know exactly where this spot is so that you can point it out at your visit.

  5. If you need to show a cell phone photo of a lesion, please have those photos readily accessible.

  6. If you have treated your rash with prescription medications prior to evaluation with your provider, please bring with you the names of the medications that you have already tried, so we don’t duplicate your efforts.

  7. Prioritize your concerns and make sure the provider knows which is the most important issue for you.  Depending on the information you shared when the appointment was made, we may not be able to address all of your concerns in the confines of one visit. If you are coming in for your annual comprehensive full-body skin cancer screening, we want to use that time for the provider to carefully evaluate your moles and growths. It is not the appropriate time to have multiple skin concerns addressed, though you can certainly mention them so we can advise additional visits if needed. Too many issues handled in one visit can result in information and prescription overload for you, and we don’t want you to feel rushed or overwhelmed. We recommend you schedule a different appointment to address additional concerns. Please realize that when you schedule your appointment and tell the receptionist everything you would like addressed or removed, that does not guarantee that all of your concerns/procedures will be addressed at that appointment. Your provider will do their best to address the highest priority issues first. Most of the time, the provider will evaluate your concerns and bring you back for a scheduled time so that the procedures can be performed in the appropriate time slot needed depending on what surgical procedure(s) are being performed.
