Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) has been used for decades as an effective way to accelerate healing of injuries, traumatic wounds, and surgery in a variety of medical specialties. PRP is used in cosmetic procedures such as rejuvenation of facial skin, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as hair restoration. The O-Shot is a PRP injection. It is a procedure performed in our office in which the patient’s own blood platelets are injected into the vaginal tissue. The theory proposed is the platelets naturally attract the patient’s own stem cells to the injected area. This in turn generates healthier and more functional tissue in the areas of sexual response in the vagina.
